Personal Worship – It is Crucial for You

by Jeff Patton

When was the last time you took time to worship?  Yea just you, Jesus, worship?

As pastors we often have so much on our plates that we don’t take time to renew and refresh our souls.

My friend and mentor (now in heaven), William Oglesby Professor of Pastoral Care and Counseling, Union Seminary in VA, often told us, “you handle the Bible and prayer so professionally that you run the risk of never handling it personally.  That is a grave danger.  Watch.  Always make time for your own relationship with God in Christ.”

This week I hope you find an hour to take a worship tape (try Passion-Sacred Revolution) and find – no, make time to worship – to stand before the throne of Grace and receive the mercy and help you need for this day.  Find the refreshment you are looking for and which we all desperately need.

Some time this summer, get time for you–get alone with God.  Renew, refresh, soak in His presence. His mercies are new every morning.
