When Protesting Doesn’t Work

The other day I received a note about the church’s response to the current injustices. The writer shared how he was organizing his church to publicly question police tactics, to be actively involved in legislating change, and to rally in protest. And then he posed what he thought was a politically charged question, thinking […]

Navigating the Unchartered Waters of Social Distancing

From the May-June Issue of Net Results Magazine

By Bil Cornelius

When word came down from state and local authorities banning public gatherings of ten or more people, the church needed to spring into action. The Bible calls us to corporate gatherings, to meet weekly in the temple courts and worship together. But it also calls […]

Virtual Innovation

Jesus has left the building … the Body of Christ has been thrust out of it’s structures and many church leaders were unprepared for the transition from Y’all Come to … trying to figure how how to “do” church in a virtual world.

They’re active in several local missions, they do community meals, and they’re faithful in attending all the meetings we have to keep the church going. […]

Encourager or Coach?

I was speaking with a young mainline pastor (we’ll call her Rev. Rebecca) who was sharing about her “coach.” The “coach” was the pastor at a nearby church. She had significant church leadership experience, had been successful by most matrices, and was willing to give her time to meet with the young pastor. Rev. […]

What’s Wrong with Small Churches?

I recently got a note from a pastor who thought that we at The Effective Church Group are down on small churches … that the only faithful churches are large churches. “The larger the better, it seems.”

Let me crystal clear: There’s nothing wrong with small churches. In the words of some smartie, “God […]
