Recently, on Bloomberg TV, The Titans featured Bill Gates and Mike Bloomberg. Bloomberg said something that all churches should ponder for a week. He said, “Technology will advance more in the next couple of years than it has since the discovery of the light bulb.”  Now give that some thought.  What does it mean to the church? Or does it mean anything?

• When it comes to children’s ministry it means that printed content is not only no longer relevant but flat screens with flat people won’t be relevant much longer.
• When it comes to worship it means that if a church can’t transform its worship setting on a regular basis it is no longer relevant to the person under 20.
• When it comes to preaching it means that there has to be a marriage of sights, sounds, and words in a seamless fashion in a way that brings out the wonder of the gospel.  Just telling a good story will no longer be enough.
• For board meetings it means that sitting at a table looking at a spreadsheet will no longer capture the imagination of the upcoming generation.  They will have to see 3D graphs showing what the information is actually pointing to in the future and how it ties to the ministry of the church.
