Why Your Church Forgets the Vision

Why your church forgets the vision

What’s Up:
The greatest threat to your church’s future isn’t a lack of money or members: it’s your silence about the vision.

So What:
If you’re not relentlessly casting vision, then vision is dying. The Nehemiah Principle isn’t optional … it’s the difference between drift and direction.

The Point Is:

Vision Leaks Monthly
Nehemiah rebuilt a wall in 52 days (see Nehemiah 6:15). But halfway through, the people forgot the vision. They got distracted, discouraged, and disoriented. Just like your congregation.

You Must Be the Voice
When the work paused, Nehemiah didn’t blame the people. He rallied them. He reminded them. He cast vision again. And again. You have to do the same.

Vision Isn’t Optional
Vision flows from mission. If you’re not preaching it, praying it, posting it, or pointing to it, you’re not leading. You’re reacting. And your church is wandering.

Vision Must Be Repeated
Every sermon. Every meeting. Every article. Every prayer. If your people can’t see the vision in their sleep, they’re not living it in real life.

And … ?
Nehemiah likely never stepped foot in Jerusalem until he was led there by the Spirit. He was born in exile, but that didn’t stop him from owning the mission and casting a vision. When he saw the walls in ruins, he didn’t sigh, shrug, or form a committee. He got mad. He got moving. And he got the job done. But even with momentum, distraction crept in. Opposition from the outside stirred fear. Doubts grew inside the walls. And like clockwork, the people lost sight of the why.

That’s when Nehemiah stepped up. Not with a new plan, but with a renewed vision. He called them back to the mission – he recast the vision. That’s how the work was finished. Pastor, your people need the same. If your congregation isn’t growing, odds are they’ve lost the vision. And that’s on you. You don’t need better programs. You need to sound the trumpet and remind them why the church exists in the first place.

Action!
Preach the vision, Pastor. Then preach it again. And again. Keep it alive. If you need help, grab the 4 Key Strategies to Grow Your Church guide here (it’ll be the best $47 you’ve spent this year).
