Most Church Leaders Don’t Actually Lead

What’s Up
A lot of churches are stalled because their church leaders aren’t leading – they’re managing, maintaining, or just hanging on.

So What
Your church’s health and growth depend on leaders who are more than committee members with opinions. You need disciples who lead like it matters … because it does.

The Point Is

Disciples First, Leaders Second
If your leaders aren’t disciples of Jesus first, then they have no business leading. Effective leadership is grounded in personal spiritual alignment.

Mission Over Preference
Decisions can’t be based on what individuals or groups like. Leaders make calls that support the church’s mission … not their comfort zones.

Vision-Focused Leadership
An effective leader knows where the church and ministry are headed and pushes relentlessly toward that vision, rallying others to come along.

Delegate to Multiply Impact
Leadership isn’t about doing all the work. It’s about empowering others to get the ministry done effectively and consistently.

And … ?
Let me be clear: The reason most churches aren’t growing has very little to do with the music, the preaching, or even the building. The real culprit is leadership … or the lack of it. Too many church leaders are acting like board members at a country club instead of kingdom-focused disciple-makers. They don’t ask, “What would Jesus have us do?” They ask, “Who might get upset if we change this?” That’s not leadership … that’s babysitting.

Effective leadership in the church starts with the cross. Not with a committee. Not with consensus. Not with comfort. A true church leader is someone who has decided that the mission comes first, the vision gets pursued no matter what, and their job is to raise up doers of the Word. They lead by serving, by discipling, and by making decisions that may ruffle feathers but bring real results. Because if you’re not moving the mission forward … you’re just taking up a seat at the table.
