What’s Up:
Barna Research says spiritual interest is rising, especially among young men—so why are churches still dying?
So What:
Because spiritual curiosity without connection doesn’t change lives. If your church still looks like a ghost town, it’s not because people aren’t hungry. It’s because you’re not connecting with them.
The Point Is:
Define Your Target Audience
Jesus had a focus. He aimed for the lost sheep of Israel. He still served others, but he had a strategy and a primary audience. You need one too.
Get Out of the Building
Stop waiting for the spiritual curious to come to you. Most churches are so inward they can barely see the street. Pick a strategy and hit the sidewalk.
Choose a Real Connection Strategy
When a spiritually curious person shows up, have a plan to connect them to real humans who care. Not a greeter who forgets their name.
Follow Up Like It Matters
No contact info, no connection. No connection, no community. No community, no conversion. Get the info. Use the info. It matters.
And … ?
Let’s be honest: the reason most churches still look like spiritual ghost towns isn’t because people have stopped caring about faith. It’s because churches have stopped caring about effectiveness. We got lazy. Comfortable. Content to preach to the choir and host another potluck. But that’s not evangelism, and it’s sure not how you build a disciple-making church.
If you want your church on a growth track, you need more than prayer and good intentions. You need strategic action. Define your audience, pick an outreach model that works in your context, and make sure your Sunday experience connects people to people and people to Jesus. The hungry are out there. The question is: are you serving anything THEY think is worth eating?
Action!
