What’s Up:
Too many pastors try to push their flock toward growth instead of leading the way. Pastor – it’s time to stop pushing your church!
So What:
If your congregation isn’t following you, you’re not leading … you’re just taking a walk. And your church won’t survive that stroll.
The Point Is:
Lead from the Front
Great leaders don’t sit behind their desks studying or standing in the pulpit barking orders. They step into the street first, demonstrating exactly what’s expected. Stop preaching evangelism if you haven’t had coffee with an unchurched, unbelieving person this decade.Earn Trust First
I watched a YouTube video of a shepherd leading a flock of sheep across a busy throughway in Dubai. Those sheep in didn’t hesitate—they followed their shepherd straight into traffic. Why? Trust. If your congregation doesn’t trust you enough to follow through uncertainty, stop everything and build that trust now.Refusal is Fatal
Some churches would rather die comfortable than live courageous. If your flock refuses to follow you toward necessary changes, you’ve got a hard choice: either shepherd them graciously through hospice care or find a flock ready for life. It’s a tough choice, but the only choice you have.
And … ?
As I wrote earlier, years ago, I saw a YouTube clip: an actual shepherd leading his flock through heavy traffic in Dubai. It was leadership in action. He didn’t stand behind, yelling and hoping his sheep would get brave. Instead, he confidently stepped forward, stopping traffic himself, creating safety and certainty. His sheep followed him across, trusting his every move. This wasn’t just a neat video; it was a real-time lesson for every church leader desperate to move their flock from dying to thriving.
Too many pastors today pound pulpits demanding their people “go reach the lost” when they’ve never personally connected with someone outside the church walls in years. The disconnect is glaring. And trust me, your members see it, feel it, and reject it. They’re not sheep blindly wandering; they’re individuals choosing who deserves their trust. If they’re not following you, they’re not seeing leadership, they’re seeing hypocrisy.
