Compelling Vision Doesn’t Arrive by Committee

Clear and compelling vision is not a group effort.

Word Count: 300 – Est Reading Time: <90 Seconds

What’s Up:
It’s true. Committees have never been God’s chosen vehicle for dropping a vision on the faithful.

So What:
Doesn’t it make sense that only the pastor has the clearest view of where God is leading? It’s not unbiblical or elitist; it’s just how God rolls.

The Point Is:

A Compelling vision is critical
Without it, churches flounder in aimlessness.

Personal clarity is essential
The pastor has to see the vision first.

Communicating is key
It’s not enough to just know the vision. You have to portray it like a living snapshot of the future God has in mind.

Inspiration over preference
A clear, God-given vision will move the mission-minded core to lay down personal preferences and chase the call.

And … ?

God doesn’t do vision by committee. He never has. Not once in the biblical record does a congregation, a tribe, or a team receive the Lord’s vision together. God speaks to leaders. To individuals. Moses. Nehemiah. Paul. Even Peter needed a solo vision before the church could open its arms to Gentiles. If you’re leading a church, you have one job that no one else can do: See what God sees.

Vision isn’t about guesswork. It’s about discerning what God is already doing and then painting that future so clearly, so vividly, so boldly, that others begin to live as if they’re already there. If that doesn’t disrupt the status quo, it’s not vision. It’s maintenance. And maintenance never grows a church. Only mission does.
