What began as 21st Century Strategies in 1984, Bill Easum “practiced what he preached” and grew it into The Effective Church Group. Today The Effective Church Group comprises a Team who, together, have over 100 years of experience planting and growing churches. Each member of our Team has served as a pastor in a growing church and brings a heart for realizing and releasing each congregation’s potential.
We’ve worked with Non-Denominational churches and with churches in over 60 denominations including Baptists, Methodists, Presbyterians, Disciples, Lutherans, American Baptist, Episcopalian, Seventh-day Adventists, and many more.
Our Mission is to equip churches to be effective and sustainable so that they can help every person become a follower of Jesus. Each member of our team is intentionally devoted to creating support tools and resources for churches and their leaders.
Combined, our Team has written over thirty books, written over 1000 articles and blog posts, and produced hundreds of training videos on nearly every aspect of what it takes to be a faithful and effective church in times like these. And there’s always more to come.
Although we serve congregations and their leaders in a variety of ways, most often we’re called on to provide on-site consultations, training, and one-on-one coaching. After leading his small dying church into what would come to be called a "megachurch," pastors began to seek out our Founder, Bill Easum's, wisdom. Before long, he'd worked with over 4,000 church leaders in the US and Canada and 21st Century Strategies was born.
As Bill E's books became more widespread and he "went on the road" with workshops, he attracted the attention of Bill & Kris Tenny-Brittian. In 1998, he invited them to be part of a church-planting experiment he initiated; and then, in 2004, he invited Bill T-B to join him as a partner in what would become The Effective Church Group.
Today ECG continues our Founder's vision to reach leaders so their churches can grow in ways that are both effective and sustainable. Effectively sustainable and sustainably effective are key principles for us.
We're also unique in that we don't provide a one-size-fits-most approach to our services. We tailor everything we do and suggest to the specific setting and circumstances of each congregation.
As a Group, our Team also has the advantage of working closely together, so we can bring a multi-focal perspective to the congregations we serve.
Absolutely! You don't need a large congregation to get started. If you have just one or two supportive households, you have everything you need to implement what we teach. Our strategies are designed to work for churches of all sizes, and we'll help you tailor them to your specific context.

For example, Pastor Doug in Indiana doubled his church in less than five months and is retaining 75% of his first-time visitors. Pastor Leyland in Alabama also doubled his church size and recently did 22 baptisms in a single weekend.
